248. Fur Rondy!
New Orleans has Mardi Gras, Anchorage has Fur Rondy. This is short for Fur Rendezvous, an annual festival which began with fur trappers in 1935. Festivities include dog s
led races, outhouse races, The Running of the Reindeer, blanket tossing, ice sculptures, ice bowling, Native Alaskan crafts fair, carnival rides, fur bikini contest, etc. It ends with the beginning of Iditarod.I will report on different activities in the next few days.
