65. Rock Candy
I would like to make rock candy with my science classes; we are currently studying minerals. I have found some webpages that give instructions. Does anyone have any experience with this and have any suggestions or words of guidance?

I can tell you this:
In the big rock candy mountain
You never change your socks
And little streams of alky-hol
Come a' tricklin' down the rocks.

Try this at home to be sure before you do it woth your students.
Disolve as much sugar as you can in a cup or so of water. Drape a piece of string in the solution. Over time, as the water evaporates, you should observe sugar crystals forming on the string.
